Co-presented with Hoverla Ukranian American Film Festival
This wartime drama is old-fashioned filmmaking of the very highest quality. It unfolds in Soviet Russia as an eight-year-old boy travels back to Ukraine from Moscow with his sick mother. They end up in an unknown town where his mother is transported to a hospital. But who will help him find the house with the turret where his relatives live? With its gorgeous, evocative black and white images, this touching film creates a stunning visual journey into deserted landscapes covered in snow and damaged by war. Based on a true story by the writer who penned Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris.
